The launch successfully positioned Mtengo Wanga as a community-rooted environmental initiative with strong institutional support. It created a public moment that connected Standard Bank's growth agenda with environmental restoration, while giving stakeholders, students, and community members a visible role in the campaign. The creative assets strengthened the visibility of the campaign, while the event experience gave the message a tangible and memorable expression. The launch also provided a strong foundation for further campaign storytelling, media visibility, and continued community engagement around the message: As We Grow, We Restore.
The Challenge
The launch needed to do more than mark the beginning of a tree planting activity. It had to connect infrastructure, sustainability, community participation, and Standard Bank's broader commitment to growth in a way that felt visible, meaningful, and well-coordinated. The project had several moving parts. The launch involved senior representatives from Standard Bank, government, city authorities, road and environmental institutions, community representatives, students, artists, media, and volunteers. It also included a public-facing procession, a branded fun truck activation, a formal tree planting ceremony, speeches, media coverage, and community awareness elements. The challenge was to create an event that felt structured and high-level, while still being warm, public-facing, and community-centred. The visual identity and event branding also needed to carry the campaign message clearly across multiple touchpoints, from the billboard and fun truck branding to on-site event materials and media-facing assets. Our role was to ensure that every part of the experience, both physical and visual, felt aligned, intentional, and true to Standard Bank's brand.
Our Approach
We built the event around one central idea: Growth is not only measured by what we build, but by what we restore. From this, the event experience and creative direction were shaped to position Mtengo Wanga as more than a corporate social responsibility activity. It became a visible commitment to responsible growth, shared ownership, and environmental care. Our approach focused on four key priorities: 1. Clear stakeholder alignment — We coordinated with Standard Bank and partner stakeholders to ensure that the programme, protocol, guest flow, and communication points were aligned before the event. 2. Purposeful event design — Every element, from the procession to the tree planting moment, was structured to reinforce the campaign message of growth and restoration. 3. Strong visual storytelling — We developed event and campaign branding assets that helped bring the message to life across public, digital, and on-ground platforms. This included the billboard design, fun truck branding, event branding, and supporting visual materials. 4. Smooth on-ground execution — We managed the event flow, logistics, guest experience, volunteer coordination, media considerations, and programme transitions to ensure the launch felt organised and intentional from start to finish.
